I've been keeping a secret...We're Moving!

Today actually, while you're reading this, Ant and I are off signing
a massive pile of paperwork to buy our first house!

Buying our first house

If you follow me on twitter (@SugarTartCrafts) you might have had an inkling that we started house hunting back in at the beginning of December. What we went through couldn't be called much of a hunt though since we ended up viewing a whopping 3 houses. It was more like a "No, No, Yes! This is the one I want! Make the owner sell it to me know!" The DC housing market is pretty rough (and expensive!!) so when you find something that is within your budget, in a great neighborhood, amazing school system, and doesn't add any time to Ant's already ridiculous commute, you snatch it up faster than a seagull with a french fry. Especially when it has space for a designated sewing room!!! (I won't even try to lie. You know that's my favorite part.)

We've got tons of painting, cleaning, and decorating ahead of us now; along with a bit of remodeling in the kitchens and bathrooms, but we aren't in any rush. Ant and I have completely different tastes, and since we've never bothered to decorate any of our past apartments, it's going to be a long (and let's face it, frustrating) road to a compromise.

As soon as we get the keys today we're going to start moving in, but since the new house is only 3 miles from our apartment, we'll be taking our time with that as well. I'll be sure to take some photos while we work though so I can share a house tour with you guys as soon as I get some down time.

It's cold, it's raining, and the kid's woke up way too early,
but this is most definitely a Happy Monday!

    1. Good Luck! I pretty much gave up on compromising and told Ant that I should get my way since I am home all day every day. Sometimes you gotta fight dirty! ;-)

    1. Thanks Bethany! I never really saw myself in a townhouse, but I'm willing to make sacrifices in order to get my own room. :-D

    1. Thanks Rachel! I'm sure Ant probably wishes I could just work from the sofa like you can. (He really wanted a work-out room.) I can't wait to see what you guys end up doing with the basement...eventually, but you can help me decorate mine in the mean time!

  5. Congrats on your first home! I'm so glad you're going to have a sewing room! The sneak peak looks like it's going to be a decent size for you too. How exciting! Mine is basically a large walk in closet, but it works and keeps the toddler OUT! :) I can't believe the stuff you got out of your dryer vents! I need to take care of mine. My dryer is getting slower to dry, and I REALLY don't need a fire. :) I'm glad you had a "fun," valentines! We went to lowe's to buy sprinkler parts, so not much better than yours! :)

  6. Thanks Lynette! I'm loving my sewing room just for that reason - It keep all the little fingers and paws out! :-D You're right about the room being a good size too, but of course it's already completely full of all my "stuff". I swear craft supplies and dust bunnies multiply around here like crazy! That's probably why I was so worried about the dryer vent in the first place. I've got so much clutter that this place would go up in a matter of minutes. Burning the house down the same week you move in is probably not the best way to make friends with the neighbors. ;-)
