Every child is different so please consult your pediatrician before starting your baby on solids, and make sure you research which foods are suitable for what ages.*

Ha ha, what a cute picture! Love his expression. I always had good intentions to do homemade baby food but never did. I actually feel like my daughter (#2) wasn't on baby food for long before she just wanted real food. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do this too, although my kid eats so much I can never get ahead of him enough to freeze anything (and he's still only 16lbs at 8mos go figure). I just make it as we need it, and it's working okay. I use an immersion blender and love it because I don't have a whole blender to clean. Thanks for sharing what you do, you gave me a couple more ideas of foods to try!
ReplyDeleteWe are also making our own baby food. I tasted store bought stuff and could not recognize the apples and that just kind of scared me! I am sure if you buy good quality it would be different. However we are just at the point of introducing food so we are making small batches just in case.
ReplyDeleteI have always made home made baby food wouldn't have it any other way. will be doing the same with baby no:4. I cook potatoes, pumpkin, zucchini, celery, onion, carrot and a piece of scothch fillet steak all together then puree the lot adding some of the stock from the cooking pot till I get the right consitancy then freeze in pots I also cook micro pasta(Plasmon brand available from Italian deli's) for babies that I cook fresh just before feeding all my kids have loved this.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you posted this! I've been making B's food and this gave me more ideas for food choices! Corbin is looking rather handsome!
ReplyDeleteI used to make my own baby food as well! Many times I would just take something we were eating for supper and throw half a cup in the blender for the baby. Great post! i found your blog through project inspire. I am your newest follower and hope you stop by and follow me back! Thanks - mandy

Found you at Project Inspire. We make food as well - here is one post about it: http://oneorganicmama.blogspot.com/2013/01/healthy-yogurt-smoothie.html - I love using re-usable pouches - my son likes that he can hold it - and I like that I can clean the kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteGreat article. I'm thinking of doing this for my grandchildren that are coming along. Just had one last night. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWe may have met by chance...but we become friends by choice.

Here in Portugal most people make their own baby food too... It´s surprising to me that´s not the norm in the States! I´ve only used store bought when ont he road! Great blog by the way!
